The Centres proudly hold a 5 star NABERS rating

Local Government Super has long been a socially responsible investor and as owners of Village Centre Batemans Bay, they are very pleased to be one of the first shopping Centres in Australia to be NABERS rated. NABERS is National Australian Built Environment Rating System and is the benchmark for sustainability practices for commercial and retail building owners in Australia.

The Village Centre Batemans Bay achieved the highest NABERS rating of 5 stars indicating that with the use of green power it is has the lowest emissions and highest energy efficiencies able to be rated. Without the use of green power, Village Centre Batemans Bay still achieved a very creditable 4.5 stars. This is indicative of the efforts of the owners and the management team at Village Centre to reduce waste, water and energy usage to achieve world’s best practice in sustainability. The owners and management look to make further improvements in the coming 12 months to ensure the Village Centre stays at the very forefront of sustainability. Each year Village Centre Batemans Bay holds an environmental expo to help educate the public and retailers on new products and sustainability practices that will help reduce our carbon footprint. Local Government Super was the winner of the NSW Premiers Green Globe award for Commercial property in 2009 and continues to be one of the market leaders in this regard. Next week Local Government Super has been invited to address the Federal Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research on the energy saving initiatives they have implemented in their portfolio.
